HONOURED ATHLETE INDUCTEE

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Cory Giroux of Portage College Voyageurs as a 2024 inductee into the ACAC Hall of Fame in the Athlete category.

Cory Giroux's journey in the ACAC began in 2010 and concluded in 2015, spanning five remarkable seasons with the Portage College Voyageurs Men's Hockey team. During this time, Cory showcased exceptional athletic talent, leaving a lasting impression on the league.

Throughout his career, Cory demonstrated his mastery on the ice, participating in 143 hockey games in the ACAC while representing the Voyageurs. He accumulated 155 points through 75 goals and 80 assists in regular-season games, showcasing his offensive skills. In playoff games, Cory contributed with one goal and three assists in three appearances.

Cory's achievements in the ACAC Men’s Hockey Statistics highlight his talent and commitment, ranking among the top scorers and goal leaders in league history. He received recognition such as being named to the 2nd Team All-Conference in the 2013-14 season and tying for the scoring champion in the 2012-13 season.

Off the ice, Cory was dedicated to his community and hockey. He received accolades such as the Voyageurs Men’s Hockey Player of the Year in 2013-14 and was consistently the team's top scorer. Beyond college, Cory contributed to minor hockey as an assistant coach, nurturing young talent.

Cory Giroux's legacy goes beyond his athletic achievements, embodying values of sportsmanship, leadership, and community involvement. His impact on the ACAC and hockey will be felt for years to come, making him a deserving addition to the ACAC Hall of Fame.
