Voyageurs Honour Two Graduating Players
Prior to the game on Saturday afternoon, the Voyageurs paid tribute to a couple of graduating players. Captain Kaden Kohle, having just completed his 4th Class Power Engineering and preparing to head into the field while also starting his 3rd Class training, only played one season in the blue, red and white but left his mark.
"Kaden came in and served the purpose for our hockey club," said McClelland. "He had experience, and he had to play a different role in the first part of the season because we had so many out of our top six…He represented the hockey club well."
For his part, Kohle noted that he enjoyed his Voyageur experience immensely.
"It was really good," he said. "I liked living with the boys and all that stuff. School went really well."
Luke Hall was also honoured prior to the game, having provided four years of stellar goaltending when he was healthy enough to guard the Voyageurs' net. The University Transfer graduate is planning to return home to Stony Plain and join the coaching ranks, tutoring the next generation of athletes in the art of goaltending.
His head coach knows that his netminder will be a success at whatever he undertakes.
"Hall's been a great ambassador for this hockey club for four years," said McClelland.
The veteran goalie noted that he will look back on his time at the College with great fondness.
"It was awesome," he said of his Voyageur experience, pointing to the lifelong friendships he made while playing for Portage. "Lots of growth, just personally and everything. I just really enjoyed my four years here...I'm gonna miss it though, that's for sure."
